This wonderful farm house is made from a nice heavy wood. It is hand made, and hand painted, probably originally for a train scene. It is quite old, from the earlier part of the last century – 1920 – 1940. All the wondows and doors are metal, and nailed into place. The little door opens. There is a hole in the bottom, so the house can be lighted. The roof is hand painted to look like roofing, and the little chimney is wood and covered in paper to match the roof. The piece is painted an off white. The paint is starting to “chalk” – the finish is slightly worn. It shows it’s age, with wonderful patina. The dimensions are: Overall the house is 6″ tall to the top of the chimney, and 4.5″ to top of roof. The house is 5 3/4″ wide, and 6″ deep at the widest point (the roof edges). The windows are all the same, at 1″ tall. The door is about 1.5″ tall – this is an estimate, as I couldn’t get my tape measure in there. The little porcelain Santa is 1.5″ tall. You won’t be disappointed in this house! It would be great for all kinds of dioramas, by changing the accessories – great for all holidays!
