Ontario Guild of Town Criers Provincial Championship

All Ontario Criers are summoned to the Ontario Guild of Town Criers Provincial Competitionship which will take place in Barrie, Ontario on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Hosted by Steve Travers (barrietowncrier@rogers.com) this will be a two-cry competition. The Annual General Meeting of the Guild will take place on the Sunday morning. More information will be sent by email to each Guild member.

Tulip Time Tournament – May 2-9, 2009

Held in Holland Michigan USA, during the Tulip Time Festival (http://www.tuliptime.com ) in May. The competition will be on Friday May 8. And they offer 4 (free) nights of B&B (for the early birds we will have 5 nights). Also they have $400.00 in prize money, and a variety of other surprises. The Tournament is limited to 12 criers on a “first come” basis. Criers must send $100.00 in security money that you get back in the welcome packet the first meeting. The Gathering of the Bells – July 11, 2009

Will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in Perth Ontario. This friendly get-together allows Criers to be part of two major events: The Art of Being Green Festival (http://artofbeinggreen.ca) and the 175th Anniversary of the Tay Canal (http://perthcanada.com). Criers should prepare two entertaining cries: one on any area of recycling (for the AOBG) and the other a cry related to any element of local history, the canal or water in general (for Tay 175). 1130 – Lunch – Supplied by Muskoka Pioneer Power Show
1230 – Show Opening – Criers will assist in the Opening Ceremonies of MPP Show
1330 – Second Cry – Santa’s Village
1445 – Awards – At Santa’s Village
1500 – BBQ Dinner – At Kruger’s Muskoka River B&B

Middleton’s Town Crier Challenge – September 12, 2009

Celebrating Middleton, Nova Scotia’s 100th Anniversary, this competition is being planned, for September 12th, 2009. It is being held as one of the many events in the Town of Middleton for 2009′s 1ooth anniversary of the incorporation of the Town, which took place on July 22, 1909.
