3:00 pm – Fun & Fellowship at Kruger’s by the River Side! (BYOB)

The crying is over … literally … and here are the unofficial results from the Ontario Provincial Town Crier Championships held this weekend (June 16-17) in Petrolia.

First Place: George Sims
Second Place: Bill McKee
Third Place: Bruce Kruger

First Place – Best Dressed Escort: Sandy Sims
Second Place – Best Dressed Escort: Ann Marie Fraser
Third Place – Best Dressed Escort: Linda Travers

Also the Criers present at the Annual General Meeting passed the new Constitution.

A motion / amendment was also passed to change the way dues are handled for members who are in arrears: any Town Crier who has not paid their dues by March 31, will be automatically charged an Administrative Fee of 1/2 current dues. (For example: if the dues is $50.00, so they will be required to pay $75.00.) A letter will be sent by registered mail to inform the Crier that they are in arrears. If dues are still not paid by June 30, a notice of suspension of membership will be sent out by registered mail and the Town Crier will have to re-apply for membership in the Ontario Guild of Town Criers. These dates and procedures have been incorporated into the new constitution.
